In early July of this year, the New York region was struck by severe storms. Kongshan Monastery's existing emergency generator failed upon activation, with both the transfer switch board and the main water tank damaged beyond repair. Due to the age of the equipment, replacement parts are no longer in production; after assessment by professional contractors, a full replacement is required.
Kongshan Monastery is located in Upstate New York, where sudden power outages caused by storms, heavy snow, and other severe weather are not uncommon. The emergency generator carries the essential responsibility of maintaining the monastery's basic operations during such events — including electrical power, refrigeration, and the water supply system.
The project will upgrade the existing 60kW generator to a 100kW unit, and extend backup power coverage to the Redwood Hall and the monastery kitchen. This will ensure that the main buildings can maintain essential water supply, heating, food preservation, and access security during outages — while also laying a stable electrical foundation for the monastery's future development.
The total estimated cost of the project is USD 80,000. We are offering this project as 40 sponsorship shares at USD 2,000 each.
